Postage Stamp Quilt (UFO) finished and my goal for July

It's time again to link up to Nothing but UFO's in 2013
In the beginning of June I linked up to work on these projects. I haven't worked on all the UFO's, but at least I can say that the Postage Stamp Quilt if finally finished! :)

I have used two jelly rolls; Evening Mist and Bella Solids Natural, both Moda fabrics.
The Evening Mist jelly roll was sitting on the shelf forever and I didn't come up with any idea at all, until MW from the NeedlesnCraft group challenged us to do a PSQAL.

I didn't like the idea to just finish it without doing a little bit extra.
I added a border, more squares and the second border. By adding the little extra, it is now a queen size quilt.
For the quilting I decided on straight stitches, which I think suits the quilt the most.
It has been washed to get the lovely crinkled look.

I loved making it, and it won't be my last PSQ. I have lots of 2 and 2.5 inch squares that is ready to be sorted on colors. I don't know when that will happen, because these days I'm busy with other projects.

It goes a bit slow working on UFO's...
For July my goal is to work on

1) 'Love is' #3 quilt - it's sandwiched and ready to be quilted
2) Blogger's BOM quilt - sandwiched and ready to be quilted
3) 'Love is' #2 quilt -  have to outline details and text on each little block

Mug rugs and teapot cozies

I think it is time to do a blog post before I lose track of all the small projects I have made over the last weeks.
You may know I looooove making Christmas items.... and I loooove making mug rugs....
Do you find it a surprise I have made some Christmas mug rugs?! :)
It's something with these Debbie Mumm fabrics, especially the 'Arctic Holiday'... it seems I can't get enough of them! :) I don't have much fabrics of these left now, perhaps I should say 'fortunate' ?! :)

Another pair of 'Arctic Holiday' mug rugs
(the colors didn't come out very well on these...)

A teapot cozy

When I first saw the 'Maple Leaf Hill' by Kris Lammers, I fell in love! I didn't have any idea what to make, I just knew I had to buy the fabrics! I bought half yards, stripe and panel, because they looked gorgeous! It happens I get bored with fabrics I bought some years back, but I still love these fabrics and I have managed to use up almost everything! Several WIP's, waiting for thread... Hopefully I'll get the thread this week or next.
A few items are finished;
... a mug rug (surprise!) :)

... another one...

... a third one!

... a teapot cozy too!!

You may guess why I have finished so many small items? :) Yes! I finished the Postage Stamp Quilt earlier this month, but I haven't got around to take photos... I shall see if that can be done tomorrow. I've also finished a blue crib quilt... have to take photos of that one too...

In the middle of the month we had lovely, sunny weather. We took advantage of the beautiful weather and went for a long hike. You can read / see photos from our hike here and here.

Some new Christmas / winter projects

The binding is finally thread basted to the Postage Stamp Quilt! I need to let it rest a little bit before I start hand sewing the binding to the back. That is always a bit boring, but it has to be done of course or else the quilt will remain a UFO! :) My goal is to finish it within this month.

We all know how fun it is to start a new project... I'm far from any exception! What 'bothers' me is that I'm in the Christmas mood! Not that I have began to sing Christmas carols, but I'm working on a few Christmas projects - and it's not even 'Christmas in July'! Well, for me; 'Christmas in June'! :) Doesn't really matter, does it?! :)

'Santa Claus is Coming' - an Advent calendar - Nancy Halvorsen design.
The panel has been sitting on the shelf for quite some years now, so isn't it time to take care of that? :)

Usually I get bored with some fabrics, but one of them I don't get bored with is Arctic Holiday by Debbie Mumm. I still have some stripes and fabrics left from that collection.
This is going to be a teapot cosy.

I had some gorgeous fall fabrics sitting here too.....
A table runner....

These projects will keep me busy over the weekend, unless something else comes up! :)
Have a wonderful weekend!

Progess on UFO's and a new project

It feels like I have been quilting the Postage Stamp quilt forever!
I decided to do straight seams, which I think looks the best on such a quilt. The quilt is a queen size, so you can just imagine how many seams I've done and thread ends I had to take care of afterwards! Phew! :)
I'm happy to say the last part of quilting was done last night! After grocery shopping this morning, I decided to prepare the binding. When I took the photo, I wasn't sure I was going to add all the binding today itself, but IT'S DONE! My goal now is to finish the quilt this month!

To stay sane while quilting the Postage Stamp Quilt, I've made two place mats. I've left to hand-stitch the binding.
I still have quite some fabric left from Debbie Mumm's 'Arctic Holiday' and I love these fabrics so much that I have to make a few more projects. The idea is to make a teapot cosy and some mug rugs too.

I'm not sure if I will be able to work on these two UFO's this month...
The 'Love is' quilt is thread basted and ready to quilt.

The 'Blogger's BOM' quilt is thread basted and ready to be quilted too, but I have yet to decide on how to quilt it. I don't think it will look nice with FMQ (free motion quilting).... Perhaps I will stitch-in-the-ditch on each block... I shall see...

Every time I have to finish one of those big quilts, I'm always asking myself; 'why on earth do I have to make such a big quilt?!' LOL
