Happy May!
It's the first Saturday in May and new RSC color (Rainbow Scrap Challenge)
Angela at SuperScrappy has chosen GREEN as the color for May.
I spent last weekend catching up on red by making
and one quarter circle for 'Eclipse'. Here I have used red and green.
The pattern (layout) is still a bit confusing, but I should not bother or overthink about that at this point! I'll make the blocks and 'worry' about the layout when the time comes! lol
I had sew much fun making two green blocks for Pat Sloan's 182 Day Solstice Challenge!
Block 6/25 - The Crosswalk
Measures 12.5" x 12.5"
It was a challenge to make these two blocks in green, because I'm running out of green! How is that possible, you may ask? Because of this quilt! Lots of green fabrics were used up. What I have left of green (today's date) are a few pieces of yardage (less than half yard each) and same with a few green Moda Marbles.
I have quite some green squares though, in different sizes. Enough to make some blocks.
4 Scrappy blocks
Finally I was able to use those green squares I do not like at all! To me they are ugly! You may see that some of the squares are blue-yellow-greenish, it's those! I had a couple left I cut into 1.5" squares, and still I found them ugly! LOL I have to admit they don't look that ugly together with the other lighter and brighter squares.
Note that I didn't buy these fabrics, they were given to me!
My favorites; Coffee with Dad
4 coffee cups
All green blocks are done, except 1-2 blocks for 'Eclipse'.
Now I can concentrate on other projects, like UFOs.

Good work. Astrid. You managed to sew up lots of green. I, too, find that the ugliest can work when mixed with the pretties.
Awesome start to the month of green! It's always fun to see those pieces we didn't like as well show up great in a block.
For not having much green in your stash you managed to come up with some great blocks anyway.
Lovely Green Blocsk! love that jacobs ladder, and all the greens you have!
I have a lot of green too and blue in the stash - I haven't looked in my boxes for awhile to see what colors I am low on - I wonder if I am actually low on any color LOL
It's fun to dig out the new color of the month to see what you have. I didn't have a lot either, so had to do some stash enhancement! Your coffee cups are so fun! I think you saved your favorite pieces for them!
All your blocks are great! :)
Whoah! You are going too fast. We are only the third day of the month and you already have all your blocks sewn. I'm such a slacker, lol. Love your blocks. I can relate to ugly greens. I don't seem to have any reds, oranges or blues that are ugly to me but green, yes. And some brown too. Funny, isn't it? Enjoy ! ;^)
For not having much green left, you put together some fabulous green blocks, Astrid!!!
Lots of nice blocks here Astrid. Ugly to your eyes or not they have turned out great. Hollow nine patches are always a winner, and I love your coffee with Dad mugs, is there a story behind this name?
Lots of pretties in the works in your sewing room, Astrid. I had to laugh when you said you got to use your "ugly fabrics" . They sure look pretty your blocks. Have a wonderful day. Hugs.
The "Eclipse" pattern is so beautiful... did you use a stencil for the quarter circles? I started cutting out circles and curves yesterday using the freeform technique. Unfortunately, this cuts away a large portion of the fabric. Instead of 25 x 25 cm, 20 x 20 cm remain.
Your other blocks are also beautiful, with a lovely variety of colors.
Best wishes from Viola
I learned how to make the Jacob’s Ladder from one of Melva’s SAL’s and loved it ever since. Yours is so lovely, especially with that butterfly! Your coffee cup squares are so pretty – would make beautiful real cups! Mine are on the TBP list – to be prepped! 😊 Thank you for all of your assistance last month!
Your green blocks look fabulous. I don't see anything "ugly" in them at all. ;) I love that they can get lost in the scrappy-ness and blend in. Thanks for joining Sew & Tell.
I'm late visiting but very inspired! Love using up my scraps and you have a wonderful batch. I especially love the little cabins and goodies here and there. So fun!
