I reached my goal for March!
(I'm late in posting my finishes)
'Keep the Home Fires Burning' is FINISHED!
This quilt was started when I had a squirrel moment in February 2024, and also a result of the RSC - Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2024.
In December 2024 I made a pieced backing, using up more bits & pieces of fabrics I know I'd never use for anything else. I got two leftover blocks I added to the back.
Deciding on a quilting design is always a challenge. I do all quilting on my domestic sewing machine; Bernina 440 QE. The throat size is 7.5", not a big space for big quilts. It involves quite some wrestling (arms exercise!) and usually a bucket of swear words! Does it sound familiar?!
This quilt wasn't the worst to quilt. I did straight lines and there were not much wrestling!
Straight lines on and around the Heart, half inches between the seams.

This quilt is amazing, Astrid. I love how the blocks are arranged on the 2 sides. How cute and clever. The backing is fabulous too. I have never pieced a backing before. I am going to have to give it a try. Happy quilting. Hugs.
Wow, such a fun and intricate quilt! Very nice Astrid! Love what you did with the border!
Beautiful quilt, Astrid; your quilting turned out so lovely!! Nice work--I love the pieced backing, too--I like to see interesting arrays of fabrics on the reverse of my quilts, also...
I hope your upcoming weekend is a good one. We will be watching Formula One racing from Saudi Arabia starting tonight...lotsa of fun and some Easter chocolates to go with hahaha hugs, Julierose
Absolutely stunning quilt.
so nice to get some finishes! What do you do with the quilts you make being in a tropical climate. I imagine you use a light batting and then between humidity and A/C you still have a need for a few?
I'm glad you pointed out all the different designs because I didn't notice most of them when I looked at the quilt as a whole. Well done!!
What a gorgeous quilt! I'm so glad you finished it. I love your quilting too. It complements it so nicely!
Quite a variety!!! I'm impressed that you kept track of how many hours went into the making, also!
Astrid, Keep the Home Fires Burning is a beauty! I love the neat layout with your offset borders. The back is fabulous! Congratulations on your finish!
What a great finish. It is fun to see that the back is really interesting, too.
So much work involved. Lovely.
