Another week has passed and it's time to show what I've been up to with orange.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I don't have any orange yardage left. There are squares in different sizes. I have a few orange 5" squares left and I just couldn't leave these cute cats in the box!
Two squares + leftover black = two mug rugs!
The quilting will happen another day.
After finishing four big UFOs (I need to take photos!), it felt good working on something small.
UFO #22 is FINISHED!
This is the table topper or candle mat I wanted to finish two years (!) ago! I ran out of the black garland lights fabric (narrow border) and it was put on hold. Some of the pieces were already cut, it was an easy UFO to finish!
Measures 14.5 inches / 37 cm square
I had some leftover fabric in that bag and whipped up some cute Snowman mug rugs.
I'm not in a hurry to finish these, the quilting will happen eventually.

Small finishes are so satisfying. Good to knock another ufo off the list. Nice wintery table toppers!
Those are such cute small projects, Astrid! The Christmas ones are especially cute. And a great way to use up scraps, too!
Such a good idea to finish ufo’s for the RSC . It’s using up the scraps and that’s the goal. Love the snowman mug rugs!
I love seeing your progress, big and small. I find it very interesting to research Mauritius and learn about where you live across the world from me. And yet, we both love quilting and fabric and having fun with both. I am amazed you were able to send your Bernina to South Africa for repairs. I can't imagine what shipping and trips to the continent must be like.
The mug rugs with the orange cat fabric are awesome! Small projects after finishing a large one IS the smart way to go. Way to go to complete a UFO!
I love these, Astrid. The cats and the snowmen are beautiful.
These are so cute! I’m working through my UFOs as well. It’s inspiring to see how many you finished! Good for you!
Cute little projects, congratulations on working on those UFO's, using up and finishing feels so good.
You do a terrific job of using up pieces left over from other projects -- or so it seems to me. I've never thought of making mug rugs from 5" squares. I generally make Happy Blocks from cute fabric and eventually put them in a quilt. If you are interested check out Maryquilts.com. She has lots of general directions for quilts including several Happy Blocks (or she may call them Happy Quilts... I forget.). Have a great week.
Extra cute mug rugs!! The cats especially caught my eye because I may have some of that fabric in the stash. LOL
You're knocking off projects at a great rate! Mug rugs are a great thing to use up little bits. Now if I could only figure out what to do with a bag of leftover sock yarns (and no, I don't want to make socks out of them).
You finished some lovely projects, Astrid. You have to feel good about all of your progress. Well done!!
Really cute mug rugs--those cats are SO cute and the snowmen are so pretty!!
I love small finishes--and they do use up scraps and cut offs --I am hoping to make some more smaller pieces soon--these JR's are on my mind right now..
hugs, Julierose
Thank you, Linda!
Darling finishes, Astrid. The little mug rugs can be displayed anywhere. The black cats are the cutest- so retro. Have a wonderful week. Hugs.
Great finish with the candle mat, and i love the way you used the last of the orange/black cat pieces.
