Another week has passed (how did that happen?).
What has happened in your sewing room?
This is the only orange that happened in my sewing room - one 9-patches from 2" squares
In between working on my UFOs - mostly quilting - I've been piecing some scrappy 16-patches. As I've mentioned earlier; I have thousands (I'm not exaggerating!) of 2" squares from swaps as well as my own. Some are used, but there are still a lot. I just have to start somewhere, right? I've yet to decide what to do with these blocks.
Now that I have 'Dear Nina' back home and in perfect working condition, I uses it for piecing and 'Helena' is set up for quilting. That way I can alternate between the two. It's good to take breaks from quilting big quilts, and piecing together squares is a no-brainer.

oh wow what a big market - the fruits and vegetables look so good - do you go weekly? do they have it every day or weekly? Here they will have a farmer's market on the weekend usually Saturday during the growing season but it is usually just a little bit in our small town and not much variety - the same things that you grow in your own garden.
Even a single nine patch is still progress. I too have a collection of 16 patches waiting to be turned into something lovely. It is nice to have projects in the works. Thanks for sharing the vegetable market. It is nice to remember that people live in so many different places and still come together for shared hobbies.
You have gorgeous orange prints. Welcome back Nina. I'm sure that you were missed. Now get to work! Lol. Enjoy having your machine back. ;^)
Your 9 patch is pretty in orange, and the 16 patches look like they will make a great quilt design! I'm so glad to hear Nina is back and working well. It sounds so handy to have both a piecing machine and a quilting machine set up! That market looks like a great place to shop for fresh produce!
Cute 9-patch and I love those scrappy 16-patch blocks, Astrid--nice work...
What a lovely fruit and veggie market;))) We don't have any big markets like that around here--just mostly smaller veggie stands here and there...
Can't wait for summer tomatoes--just thinking about them makes me hungry hahaha!! Hugs, Julierose
I love to see how you're using up your scraps. Your orange block looks great!
I'd love to visit that market! I finished the latest landscape and today I turned my attention to downsizing at least some of my overflowing denim stash, totally befuddling my DH as I cut a lot of it up and then proceeded to sew it together again...with plans to cut it up again. He just shakes his head and wanders off, muttering to himself.
Thank you for showing the market day photos. I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering what life is like in Mauritius, it seems such an exotic country.
Beautiful orange block.
Thank you, Linda!
Thank you, Chantal! Indeed, Nina has been missed and she loves working again! :-)
ORANGE and other scraps sewing, too? Looks like a good week, Astrid!
Such a pretty orange nine patch. That is a big farmer's market. I get you can find all kinds of wonderful fruits and veggies.
It is a beautiful block... orange—the color of the joy of life.
I would love to stroll through your magnificent fruit market with two large shopping bags and a wallet in hand! :-)))
But I won't complain; here, the rhubarb and cherries are ripe, and it won't be long now until we can pick those delicious strawberries...
Warm regards and have a wonderful Sunday, dear Astrid.
It's always a great day to have our beloved machines up and running perfectly! I also like to have my 2 machines at the ready like you -- one for piecing, one for quilting. The orange block looks great as do the 25-patch blocks. Have a great week!
Your orange block is wonderful! I'm glad Nina has returned from her spa treatment and is back at work again. I too have a machine primarily for piecing and another that is set up for quilting! That vegetable/fruit bazar is huge and with such variety!
You're doing great, working through those "thousands" of squares. And I totally get it--I have thousands here, too!!! Interesting to see what the fruit & vegetable market looks like. Have a great week, Astrid!
I have lots of 2" squares too, but not as many as you! You will end up with a spectacular quilt.
The market is fascinating! Is that how you do your food shopping? It looks like a lot of variety of things to choose from. The oranges are so pretty in your block.
Det så herlig ut med det store frukt og grønnsakmarkedet!
Good to have options. Helena and Nina are on stand-by for your creative pleasure. Love the patchwork and look forward to seeing what you do with those blocks.
Reminds me of our Farmer's Market, but it's not the same as it used to be with mostly vendors selling handmade, homemade items over the fresh fruits and veggies.
