Well, not much 'Christmas in July' sewing has happened since this post. However, some already prepped dog and cat mug rugs have been quilted, that's all.
I got sucked into decluttering accumulated fabrics and other crafts.

Some of the jeans will be donated and some are cut into useable pieces. I'm not going to use the most worn areas, and I see there are some spots too that won't be used. I will get to that eventually.
My goodness, jeans take up a lot of space!
Flannel shirts from a DF are also cut into pieces
The small heap with quilting cotton is sorted and some small pieces cut into squares.

I rediscovered this beautiful bullfinch Christmas fabric. Originally Christmas kitchen curtains (cotton). Too beautiful to be donated, right?
I'm going to make some placemats and two table runners.
It looks like there is a color difference, actually it's shades.
I'm also doing 'secret sewing' that can't be revealed until it's delivered.
We discovered this guy in the garden the other day
If not mistaken, this caterpillar (about 4.7 inches / 12 cm) is the Death's Head Hawkmoth.
It's an impressive moth and we don't see them often. We saw one closeup some years ago - here.

My goodness, that's an impressive caterpillar - and an impressive moth too. I'm with you in wanting them to both stay outdoors.
You've reminded me that I need to go through my remaining denim stash and get rid of any pieces I doubt I'll ever use because my container is still overflowing.
Good work on sorting all your parts and pieces. If you come up with a good project for the denim, be sure and let me know! I have a whole bag of it that I need to use for something. That is an interesting caterpillar. It looks quite large.

Spennende skattejakt du har med å gå gjennom gamle skatter, syns jeg kjente igjen noe der :) Jeg har laget putetrekk med lignende stoff med fugl på, syns den passer til vintersesongen med sine fine farger. Denim kan man lage hagehatter av (bøttehatt) f.eks. Ble jo inspirert til å kikke gjennom min egen samling nå.
your caterpillar looks a lot like the tomato hornworm which is green they look a lot alike and it turns into a moth also.

Sorting and organizing pieces is necessary; but, not exciting. I hope next week you will get to do more playing that organizing! That moth is amazing!
You may not have done a lot of sewing, but I can see that you have been very busy with all your sorting. That will be worth it.
And look at the lovely fabrics you discover along the way.

It's a good thing to sort through stuff and maybe even discard some. I'm going through batiks and sort by color and bag up the scraps.
That Christmas- y print with the red bird is a pretty one! Sounds like a great idea to make a tablerunner and placemats out of it. Sorting and making decisions about what to do with lots of fabric can be both overwhelming and exciting!
Decluttering and organzing can be fun, especially when you uncover treasures like those nice pieces of fabric. The caterpillar is interesting. It looks big!
Getting organized in the sewing room is a big accomplishment! :) I need to take time and 'sort through' my piles... :)

Sorting and cutting fabrics definitely feels like moving forward. The caterpillar! And that video--she raises those things like they're pets!?! Quite interesting!
