I'm taking a break from the Christmas preparations to join the "Virtual Christmas Quilt Show". Quilters who want to participate are to enter their Christmas quilt and tell about it. I was invited by SewCalGal - who is hosting the show. There are wonderful prizes to win, so if you would like to join - take a look here. Hurry up!!! It ends Dec 25th.
Here's my entry for the show. It is a wall quilt I made last year, from a pattern in one of the Australian craft magazines. I fell in love with it from the day I got the magazine, and couldn't wait making it! I love it, because it reminds me of my native country Norway and how I used to celebrate Christmas together with my (late) parents and dear friends. The quilt resembles the house where I grew up, the tree - my father & I went to the forest to cut the most beautiful Christmas tree, the log cabin - the fireplace at our home, the doves for peace, the poinsettia we always had for Christmas, the bell & candles (lights) on the tree, the gifts etc. :) Living in a tropical country doesn't give the "right" Christmas spirit to me, but looking at this quilt makes me more comfortable with it all. :)
The quilt measures 95cm x 110cm (37in x 43in). Oh, and there are prairie points around it. This was the first time I made prairie points - thought it was very difficult to make - but was is easier?! :)) I loved making it, and it is a great project for using up stash. I didn't buy any new fabrics for it! :)

Very pretty - there's a lot of work in that quilt.
I love your Christmas quilt - it is beautiful! I had not put a quilt in that show as I do not have my Christmas quilt finished, maybe I should put one of my wall hanging in it instead - I will go look.

Thank you! :) Karen, I'm sure you have something to show!
Oh my, your Christmas quilt is so beautiful. I love it. Thanks for sharing it in my Virtual Christmas Quilt Show.
Prizes will be drawn randomly on December 25th. I also have a post where you can get an extra point for the drawing by voting for Viewer's Choice. And if people don't have a quilt to enter they can vote and if they check out the original post there are other ways for them to get a point & win prizes too!
Merry Christmas!

I love your quilt and the stories about the blocks. It sure seems like a labour of love - thanks for sharing!
Astrid, what a stunning quilt, I absolutely love it! I am sure it will be very welcome and well loved in the show. I have only made 2 larger quilts (many small-mini- sizes) and wish I could find time to make something like this to bring out each Christmas. I too find it hard to think of Christmas in the heat, it is not what I am used to! Blessings to you and your family, for the holidays and thankyou for the joy you spread on your blog thru the year. Thanks again so very much for your wonderful comments!
Nettie, you are right - lack of time prevents us from doing all we want to. :) I'd like to do some cross-stitching in addition to quilting, but the latter takes up most of my time. :)
That is a lovely quilt! Awesome! 8-)
This quilt is beautiful and perfect for Christmas. Merry Christmas!
Your quilt is gorgeous! And I love how you didn't have to buy a scrap of fabric to make it!
I am sure that is true for most of us quilters!
Thanks for sharing
