Busy Quilting Week

It's Palm Sunday, it's Easter, how did that happen? It feels like New Year's Eve was yesterday, doesn't it?! How are you going to spend the Easter days? For us it will be just normal days, nothing special.

What have you been up to the last week? I have spent quite some time sewing and happy to say I have some finishes, even a UFO! :) So where do I start?

I think I'd better start with a UFO where I'd love to hear your opinion, please.
I've been working on this UFO off and on and come to the point where I need to decide on which color the first border should be.
I've had the orange in mind for quite some time, but after hearing hubby's opinion, I'm not sure anymore. He prefers black, not the orange. What do you think? The other photo shows flag blue. Black is not my first choice, maybe flag blue? Any other suggestions?
I have a heap with pinwheel blocks to make for this one. Lots of work, but I think it will look great when it's done. Whenever that will be?! :)

More 1.5 inch squares cut from leftovers and I got 3 more blocks done

I wanted to finish the red and white lap quilt this month, but that won't happen.

If you read my previous post, you know the top is already done. This is the back. I had quite some squares already cut and decided to use them for the back. 'Of course' I ran out of fabrics for the last two rows, ugh! Good thing more is on the way, but it will take 2-3 weeks until I get it.

I've made some table runners lately and this week I finally got around to hand sew the bindings. These will be listed in my shop soon.

Power outage today made me finish the last one and a pair of place mats.

DRUM ROLL, please!!!
Another UFO finished!

Set of 4 Christmas place mats. Merry Christmas! :)

if you don't like the black I would go with the blue I think it looks nice

Astrid, you have been busy! I like the blue for the borders, black is too stark and the orange detracts from the blocks. But personally I would use a muted green I think, like a soft sage green, as the blocks are stunning and you don't want to make the eye see the borders rather than the blocks themselves. But that's just my opinion!

I like the blue best of the three. I think it gives the definition you want without distracting from the scrappy nature of the pattern.

Great week of sewing projects! I'm loving yellow and blue right now, so those runners are especially nice.

I like the blue, Astrid!

You have been busy! Love your pieces with the 2.5" and 1.5" scraps--like mosaic tiles! Btw, I have to side with your hubby and vote for the black border. I think it really makes the other colors pop! Hope this coming week is just as productive!

I am always stunned when I see all those tiny pieces. Good luck choosing the colour to use. And well done on the finishes, too.

I have to agree with Hubby and go for black.
Great work on another finish! You are on a roll whoop-whoop!

Great projects. I happen to like the blue border. It makes the other colors brighter. Black accents the darker colors, making the quilt dark.

Great quilt. I vote black.

LOL, you've got all sorts of opinions here. Me? I don't care for the black. The blue is more conservative, but the orange really makes it zing and would carry your eye to circle around the quilt, allowing you to look at each section. Let us know what you decide!

Lovely scrappy quilt Astrid ♥ I prefer the blue as it gives definition without stealing the limelight :)

OMG! You are always so productive. I don’t know how you do it. I like all the colors you’ve chosen for the borders. I think it’s just a matter of preference. I like the yellow/gold best.
