First of all: THANK YOU to those of you who have commented on my previous posts! I'm sorry I've not been able getting back to you.
I'm online again! After two weeks off due to the PSU on my desktop PC failed. Long story short; DH managed to fix it (install a new PSU), by communicating with our DF and data-guru in SA! Thank you so much, A! I hate using my mobile phone for 'computer work', it is way too small and I tend to lose patience (very fast!)!
Sewing, cross-stitching as well as decluttering have been done.
The RSC color for August is yellow.

This is the very first time I attempted a Dresden Plate block! What a pain!
It didn't turn out that bad though. I have yet to applique the 'plates' to the background fabric.
Those of you who have made Dresden Plates, do you applique by hand or machine stitch? I've never attempted hand applique, not sure how that will turn out.

This weekend I 'plan' working on assembling these two quilts. Let's see how that pans out.
UFO #8 (Got the Blues) has to be finished too. I got the fabric for the binding about a week ago.
And... my 'secret sewing' is done, except for the binding. I can't show it until the recipient has got it (maybe not before October).

I machine applique my dresden plates, Astrid--As a matter of fact I am working on my lavender table top with two big plates...I machine appliqued them to the top and am now doing some extra hand quilting on them...mine are a plain circle edge so easier to manage...
We are in quite the heat wave here--temps and dewpoints off the charts--so mostly feeling slow and sluggish...hugs, Julierose
Glad to hear your computer woes are fixed. Love your BOM blocks but I can't help you with the Dresden Plate question. No experience in that part. Good luck with your goals. ;^)
You've got some lovely blocks made, Astrid! I just LOVE the door on the first cabin with the house.!!
Glad your computer guru was able to fix your problem...mine totally fried and needed an entire replacement.
I've never made Dresden Plates so no help on that front. Re applique....I use freezer paper templates that I iron onto the fabric and then use either a glue stick or sometimes starch applied with a paintbrush to fold over seam allowances. Press well and then remove the paper. Then you can either hand or machine applique the piece down.

Being offline has given you lots of sewing time, Astrid! It's fun to see what you've been working on. Those are pretty BOM blocks and love the Tree Farm mystery, too!
I keep saving those BOM patterns from A Quilting Life & get around to them eventually. Yours are inspiring! I machine applique my Dresdens with a blanket stitch. But if you like hand applique, it's easy to do, as well.
Computer problems are the worst! I had to get my computer bloke in to sort ot a problem I was having with the printer and lap top Robin was my live in computer guru and I really miss not having him here to help me with the never ending problems.
Welcome back, Astrid! I just love all the wonderful blocks you’ve been making! As for Dresdens, I always machine sew them down with a blanket stitch. It’s not always what I use for appliqué in general, but always for Dresdens (personal preference).
Glad you got your computer issues sorted out. You made good use of your time to make blocks for your BOM projects! I can’t wait to see the finished tops!
So sorry for your computer woes. It is amazing how much we rely on those things, and how quickly life gets inconvenient without them. Glad you are back in business. Your Jolly Tree Farm blocks are so pretty, Astrid. I've yet to start mine. Need to finish Sewcialites 3 and Fat Quarters by the Dozen first.
Dear Astrid, I was immediately captivated by your November block—appliqué or machine sewing; that is exactly the reason why I’ve never dared to try it myself...
